Roberta Kaplan joined the firm in October 1992 and Lewis Kaplan left Paul, Weiss in August 1994 upon his confirmation as judge. Roberta Kaplan also told the judge in a letter that she reserved the right to "seek sanctions" against Habba for making "false and vexatious claims." As in the second trial, Roberta Kaplan represented Carroll and Judge Kaplan presided over the case. "We believe, and will argue on appeal, that the Court was overtly hostile towards defense counsel and President Trump, and displayed preferential treatment towards Plaintiff's counsel," Habba wrote.

A few years ago, the phrase “Dimes Square” began to flit around the art world. It had a youthful irreverence and seemed to be among those “if you know, you know” spots that only a few could point to on a map. But just before Christmas, I learned of a pop-up group show in a building known as 1 Ludlow on Dimes Square. A small starter gallery, it consists in its entirety of Tony Cox, an artist/dealer (and former pro skateboarder), and his small Canal Street loft nearby that since 2018 has served not only as his home-studio but also as his exhibition space. Cox was given the use of 1 Ludlow, a small building at the intersection of Dime Square’s main vectors — Ludlow Street, Canal Street and Division Street — in the loosely defined boundary of the Lower East Side and Chinatown.

Trump did not attend Carroll's first trial, and in his Truth Social post said he would have won had he attended.

NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Donald Trump can wait a week to testify at a New York defamation trial where he could face millions of dollars in damages after a jury concluded that he sexually abused a columnist in the 1990s, a federal judge said Sunday. The judge also noted that he has learned that Trump, even while seeking to postpone the trial, had scheduled an evening campaign appearance on Wednesday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He said Trump's lawyers notified the judge on Friday that Trump planned to attend the trial. This month's trial, long delayed by appeals, stems from defamatory comments the judge said Trump made about Carroll in 2019 and last May, a day after the jury announced its verdict. Habba said Trump also can testify about the circumstances of his comments and how they related to comments in Carroll’s "continuous parade of interviews and publicity."

RAPID CITY, S.D.—Jose Hernandez set off to work one evening in January, wobbling on a refurbished bike with a deflated tire, a bag with his valuables strapped across his back. He was headed to Burger King, where he works as a cook for about $15 an hour, often on the 5 p.m.-to-midnight shift. It is a five-minute drive from the homeless shelter where he lives. But Hernandez, 45, doesn’t have a car. So he bikes—on wheels given to him by Roberta Harmon , a street minister recognizable by her white heart-shaped glasses and fiery red hair who fixes up old bicycles for homeless people who need them to get to jobs.
